It's Monday, the crappiest day of the week. What better day to have a day devoted to Random Crap than Monday? Not Thursday, I'll tell you that much. Onto the random crap:
"Blame It" by Jamie Foxx/T-Pain: Yeah, to say this song is stuck in my head is an understatement. "Blame it on the vodka"-truer words have never been spoken.
8 days until the Torre/A-Fraud jealous of the Captain book, 19 until pitchers and catchers.
Today was Chinese New Year. For the first time ever I went to the parade and I gotta say, the Chinese do a strange but fun shindig. Yellow dragon power!
Boston Red Sox hero and regining American League The Writers are Retarded MVP Dustin Pedroia's brother was arrested and charged with child molestation. Shockingly ESPN.com has nothing on the story yet; surely the same thing would happen if Kevin Cash's brother would be arrested. But more importantly, let us take a moment to be creeped out by Pedroia's family member, and of course, let us point and laugh at any Red Sox fans in our midst.
Now this is a contract that makes sense. If Pettitte earns the 12 million, fantastic.
How bout dem Knicks winning 3 in a row. We're making the playoffs, especially now that current 8th seed Milwaukee's best player is out for the season. And David Lee is deserving of the All-Star Game. Speaking of which, here are my picks for the reserves. In the East: Lee, Danny Granger, Chris Bosh, Joe Johnson, Devin Harris, Andre Iguodala, and Rashard Lewis. In the West, Dirk, Big Al Jefferson (By the way, how crazy is the fact that the T-Wolves have the best record in '09? When you take into account the fact that 2008 doesn't count, they're the best team in the league), Brandon Roy, Kevin Durant, Carmelo (if healthy, otherwise Pau Gasol), Shaq, and Chauncey Billups.
The NHL All-Star Game happened. Lundqvist was fantastic during the Skills Competition, then apparently went out drinking and therefore was Brodueresque during the Game itself. That's right, I'm blamin' it on the a-a-a-a-a-alcohol.

Take the amount of Cups that Queen Henrik has won. Multiply it by any amount you want. Even a billion. Then add two. He still won't have as many as Brodeur. Don't be hatin.
Okay, so you realize it's not Lundqvist's fault we haven't won a Cup in the last 3 years, and you also realize it's not completely because of Brodeur that the Devils won their Cups. It's a team game and while goalie obviously plays an important role you can't judge greatness based on career Cups won, especially when you're comparing a guy who's played more than 15 years to a guy who's played 3. If you want to rank the best goalies in terms of Cups won, then Patrick Roy, Grant Fuhr, Billy Smith, Jacques Plante, Terry Sawchuk, Ken Dryden, Turk Broda and Gump Worsley were all better than your beloved Brodeur, and Andy Moog was just as good.
Now if, as you should, you want to compare their stats through their first 3 full seasons, you'll notice that while Brodeur was 28 games over .500 while the King was 48 over, and he did better than him in each individual season. Also, Brodeur's GAA his first 3: 2.40, 2.45, 2.34. Henrik's: 2.24, 2.34, 2.23. And finally, Brodeur's SV%: .915, .902, .911. Henrik's: .922, .917, .912.
Big deal. Let's see the Queen keep it up over a career. Won't happen, I guaranjersey it.
Agreed, you can't compare a guy in his first three years to an entire career. Fact is, until Henrik does something special, you can't compare him. Not enough time yet. But until then, Marty's the best goalie. I didn't take a shot at Henrik's stats-- you said he was "Brodeuresque." That's an awful argument, considering Brodeur will finish his career with the most wins and shutouts, the single-season wins record, three Stanley Cups minimum, and a sparkling GAA and SV% to go with it.
Also, let's take a look at Marty in the playoffs, shall we? An unbelievable 1.96 GAA, .919 SV%, and 22 shutouts to go along with those three Cups and one Conference championship.
Want to look at Marty's first three years? Fine. We'll exclude his one brief 32-minute game as a 19 year old in 92, as he hadn't even played enough games to be a rookie, and spent the entire next season in the minors. We'll begin when he began playing for real in the majors, in the 93-94 season. His GAA: 1.95, 1.67, and 1.73. He had four shutouts in those three postseasons. He posted a .928, .927, and .929 SV%. Oh, and he won the Cup his SECOND year.
Henrik has two playoff shutouts in three years. SV% of .835, .924, and .909. GAA of 2.57. ZERO Stanley Cups.
There's no question who's better, but you're right, it's not fair to compare them when Lundqvist has a mere three years in the league. But the fact remains that Brodeur is the best goalie in the league and will retire as the best goalie in history. You can't say he was "Brodeuresque" when he sucked, because, well, Brodeur doesn't suck.
Oh, Mike Richter and his pathetic 2.89 GAA doesn't hold a candle to Brodeur, and the only people who compare them are delusional Rangers fans. Seriosuly, it's not even close. One look at the stats says it all. You can't argue with stats. 24 career shutouts. Brodeur has 22 in the playoffs alone, 98 in the regular season. Please.
For the record, Brodeur has 108 PIM, 30 in the playoffs. Richer had 34 in the regular season, 2 in the postseason. Lundqvist has just two in his three seasons, none in the postseason. Conclusion? Brodeur isn't a pussy.
A. Guaranjersey- not actually a word.
B. Something special? He's been a Vezina finalist every year of his career, plus he was the best player on the 2006 gold-medal winning Sweden team. How many guys have done that (the 1st part)? Did Brodeur?
C. The whole Brodeuresque thing, look at your blog dude. The fill-in-the-name-esque thing is status quo for enemy players around these blog things.
D. You're referencing Brodeur's 1st 3 playoff seasons compared to Lundqvist's. Fun fact: Brodeur missed the playoffs in his 3rd season while Henrik has never missed the playoffs.
E. Brodeur isn't the best goalie in the league. Lundqvist is.
F. Who said anything about Richter? This whole post/comment thing has been about Brodeur vs. Lundqvist.
G. For the record, Brodeur has 108 PIM, 30 in the playoffs. Lundqvist has just two in his three seasons, none in the postseason. Conclusion? Brodeur is a dumbass who puts his team in shorthanded situations.
We love this show.
